Located in the Hollerich district of Luxembourg since its founding in 1870, the company has transformed over the course of its history into an internationally oriented engineering firm which, following a substantial expansion strategy, became a full-scale supplier of plant packages for the primary phase of the steel industry.
Originally established on Rue de l’Aciérie, the industrial site developed considerably until its peak in the 1970s, thereby forming a significant real estate estate on a land area of approximately 11 hectares. From the 1970s onward, activity on the site gradually declined until it became the current industrial brownfield.
With Luxembourg’s strong economic growth that began at the end of the last century, pressure on land intensified, particularly in the capital. The Gare and Hollerich districts are now undergoing major renewal with the emergence of numerous projects, some of which are under construction or completed. The Paul Wurth estate therefore represents one of the major assets for the revitalization of the district.
